ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION IN CHINA AS ONE OF THE MAIN GOALS OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

The article has described the development of environmental education in China since the 1970s up to the present time, its practical benefits and forecasts for the future. The importance of the topic is based on raising a wide attention to environmental problems of the planet, the requirements of the international community to observe the rules of environmental safety, as well as the changes in approach in the field of environmental education and development of the united ecological society.
The purpose of the article is to identify the features of modern environmental education in China. In order to achieve this goal, the article deals with the international documents in the form of conventions and resolutions, as well as the programs and documents of the Ministry of Ecology of China. The official papers that are the basis of today's environmental education at schools and universities are viewed. The author analyzes the results, recent changes and new ideas related to environmental education in China.
