Abstract:

This article is devoted to the study of the declining role of the UN Security Council
in resolution of international conflicts (on the example of the Iraq crisis 2002-2004). It
is shown that during this crisis decisions were made not on the basis of interest in
maintaining peace, and on a block basis, which ultimately played a very negative role,
which confirms the need to reform the current system of international security.
