COGNITIVE LINGUISTICS AND ITS HISTORY

Abstract:

This article examines the stages of embodiment of cognition and cognitive science
in general and cognitive linguistics in particular. In the very beginning of the article
the author considers the notion “cognitive” and “cognition”. Scientists argue about the
scope of cognitive linguistics in cognitive science. It concentrates on the history of
cognitive science to find the place of linguistics in this respect. To do this is not easy
as it is a problem to scope the interest of cognitive linguistics. While looking inside the
history of cognitive linguistics we understand that there is a special niche for cognitive
linguistics in cognitive science.
