        <p>The article presents an analysis of the US position in relation with Shanghai cooperation organization. Various approaches advocated by one side or another in the existing political discussion are examined. The analysis is based on the a review of the materials from the largest analytical centers such as Brookings Institution, The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), Heritage Foundation, Cato Institute, RAND Corporation.</p>
