The article deals with a number of aspects that characterized the ways of Ukrainian society involvements into the global information space in 2012–2013. The most important of them were the intermediate position of Ukraine in the emerging system of European security, availability of Internet-based information and communication technologies, growing competition on the regional and global levels combined with the world-wide trend to increase control over the information from World Wide Net by sovereign states.
