        <p>The account of scientific developments in physics in Russia and the effect of
World War I on Russian and International scholar community and the progress in
pure and applied physics is given. The Russian physicists, many of them being the
prominent figures in the Russian scientific establishment in future, participated in the
War and were working on various war-related demands and military activities.</p>
