The author debates with critics of multiculturalism concept. On the base of international legal norms, the paper argues for the tolerance and integration of immigrants instead of their assimilation. On the contrary, xenophobia and migrantophobia often lead to domestic extremism and violence. Immigration policies in France, Germany and Great Britain are briefly analyzed. Finally, the author presents main points of view on the topic in Russia.
