This paper deals with the problems of strategic development of the region, main stages of the region’s strategy formation are identified. The factors that determine the choice of strategy and allows to consider the region's economy as a complex interconnected controlled system are classified. The contribution of business social investments is educed as a modern factor in the region’s development. The classification of the region’s investment strategies is developed.
