Disaster in a healthcare system generated by the new COVID-19 virus has reached enormous proportions, affecting almost every country in the world. In a pandemic situation, there is a decrease in economic and tourist activity, which in turn leads to an economic crisis, the consequences of which are difficult to measure to this day. To study such problem, the region of Spain was chosen. Since everyone can agree on that this country is where the tourism sector is the most important component of the entire economy. In addition, Spain can be considered as a leader in many international tourist destinations. The article will analyze the impact of the coronavirus in the tourism sector in Spain, and in particular in the hotel business. In addition, here will be mentioned the initiatives in support of tourism that have been implemented at the European and national level.
