In the article, the author analyzes the prerequisites for the emergence of the conflict in Transnistria, formed at the end of the twentieth century against the background of disintegration processes in the USSR. The author focuses on the ethno-territorial and identity component of the nature of the conflict potential, illustrating the typology of the conflict in Transnistria as a "conflict of identity".
