The article considers the scientific, inventive and industrial activity of scientists of the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute during the siege of Leningrad (1941-1944), analyzes the main directions of the military defence research and the contribution of the Institute in the providing the army and the besieged city equipment, arms, means of protection from enemy weapons.
