The aims and objectives of the project "Promotion of Russian language and education in Russian language" are described in the article. The project is implemented under the initiative of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science using the resources of the State Institute of Russian Language named after Pushkin together with the university consortium, which includes Saint-Petersburg Polytechnic University after Peter the Great. The results of the project activities implementation in areas assigned to the university are shown. There are: open and distance educational courses in Russian; training of Russian as a second language for foreign teachers; research and development in the field of international education; awareness-raising activities of public interest of Russia; international exhibitions, competitions and contests participation; and literary tours for foreign students.
